Speak with Dr. Forbes
By phone or video. She reviews your history, answers your questions and explains how the Texas program applies to you.
She enters the prescription
If she prescribes, she records it in the state's Compassionate Use Registry. A participating dispensing organisation looks you up there. No card needed.
The Texas program
How Texas differs from Georgia
Texas runs the Compassionate Use Program, administered by the Department of Public Safety. It works quite differently from Georgia's registry, and the differences are worth knowing before you book.
- Patient cardNone. Texas does not issue a patient card.
- State feeNone. Statute does not require patients to register or pay a fee.
- How you are recordedYour physician enters you in the Compassionate Use Registry of Texas. A dispensing organisation looks you up there.
- Prescription lengthA 90-day supply, with up to four refills of a 90-day supply.
- Seen againEvery year. Texas sets no fixed renewal schedule in statute, so the cadence is the prescribing physician's call. Dr. Forbes works on an annual cycle, which is what the annual follow-up visit covers.
- Recent changeHouse Bill 46 took effect 1 September 2025. It expanded the qualifying conditions, increased the number of dispensing licences, and allowed additional delivery methods.
Reviewed September 2026 against the Texas Department of Public Safety. State rules change. Dr. Forbes will confirm what applies to you on your call.

A prescription covers a 90-day supply, and a physician may authorise up to four refills of a 90-day supply.
Texas does not set a fixed renewal schedule in statute. How often a patient is re-evaluated is the prescribing physician's decision. Dr. Forbes works on an annual cycle, so Texas patients see her once a year. That is what the annual follow-up visit is, and she will tell you when yours is due rather than leaving you to track it.
You need to be a Texas patient, but you do not need to travel anywhere. Dr. Forbes is licensed in Texas and sees Texas patients by telehealth, over the phone or by video. There is no Texas office to visit.
Yes. Dr. Forbes is licensed in Georgia and in Texas, and she personally conducts every appointment in both states. You are not handed to a different provider because you clicked a different page.
$150 for an initial certification and $125 for an annual follow-up. Both prices are all in and include applicable state tax. Because Texas charges patients no state fee, that is the whole cost.
